On Track

Lauren has been doing well...and so have Adam & I. Adam has gone back to work after being off for 6 weeks and I am taking my last 5 weeks of FMLA. I am loving being home with our sweet girl and we both miss daddy while he's at work.

Lauren had her 4 month shots today and also got her weight checked. She is at 8lbs 14oz! Dr. Etzel is pleased with her weight gain. She also is climbing on the charts in head circumference and length. She is right on track for gross/fine motor skills and eye contact for a 5 week old (corrected age.) I can't remember if I have already written this, so forgive me if I am just repeating myself. They will use her corrected age (from her due date 8/29) to measure her developmental milestones. So even though her actual age is 4 months, we do not expect her to do what a 4 month old would do. We expect that of a 5 week old. The doc's say that they usually see preemies catch up around 2-3 years old. It's great that she is on track with some things, but we won't worry too much right now if some things are delayed a bit.

The Zantac seems to finally be helping a bit. Feeds are going a bit smoother, but still some arching. There are times when we can tell she is fighting to keep the milk from coming back up and it's so hard to watch her work so hard to keep it down. One of those hard things that as a parent you wish you could just make it feel better. We a prescription for Prilosec because sometimes it works better than Zantac. Our plan is to wait a week or so and see if there is any more improvement with the Zantac.

Next up is another eye exam on Friday. Wish her luck!
