Weight update

Lauren is 13lbs! Lauren has been on breast milk fortified with formula making it 27cal/ounce (normal breast milk is 20cal/ounce) and we are going to cut back to 24cal/ounce and see how she does. She continues to do well with her milestones and is a little ahead of where she should be for her adjusted age of 3 1/2 months. We are so pleased! She also got her 6 month shots today. She always takes them like a champ. She cries when they give them, but within 5 minutes she is all smiles again. She has never run a fever after her vaccinations, she mostly gets extra tired and takes a longer nap.

She also got her seasonal flu, H1N1 and RSV shots in the beginning of December. We are very glad she is protected against these. She will get an RSV shot once a month through March. RSV is a virus that causes infection in the lungs/breathing passages. Almost all kids have had it by the time they are 2 years old. Babies born at less than 36 weeks have a significantly higher risk of a getting a severe case; as well are babies who have health problems. Most kids don't get much more than just a cold with it, but for preemies, hospitalization is a threat. Lauren has not been sick at all so far this flu/cold season. We are very careful about taking her out and making sure people that she is around aren't sick. Every time we are at a doctor's office or hospital I shiver at the thought of all the germs around. Well...I'm going to take advantage of Lauren being asleep right now and make some dessert for after dinner!

We will go back for another weight/development check in a month.
